Burner goes out

The P3 has 2 burners. The right one goes on fine with the starter and stays lit as long as I don't try to turn the left one on. About as soon as I turn the left side on they both go to simmer and than sputter out. You can hear the propane gas flow slow or stop when the left side is turned on. I've cleaned the venturi tubes and burners. Same problem after cleaning as before. What could be causing this? Interestingly enough when the tank is full the problem goes away. It's only when the tank is maybe 1/2 to 3/4 full that the problem starts happening. Could it be I need a new regulator?

Infrared burner goes out

The probable cause of the problem is: 1. Gas Valve failure2. Thermocouple failure. Most likely cause is the automatic gas valve which is the the device behind the button which you depress and hold to ignite the rotisserie burner. Failure is most likely as a result of very high temps in the grill, especially when some people use aluminium foil on top of the grates to "self-clean" the grill. The overheating causes the grease-like substance in the Automatic Gas Valve to fail and therefore not stay open. To replace the gas valve, YOU MUST TURN OFF THE GAS SOURCE Tank or Natural Gas ) After the gas has been turned off, open one of the burners and let whatever residual gas is in the line to escape. Remove the grill and side-burner knobs which pull off. Remove the button, and the bezel which holds the gas valve Remove the four screws holding the face plate which gives you access to the Valve. You don't have to remove the wires from the ignitors but checking that they are properly connected is a good idea at this time. You may need a second pair of hands to hold the faceplate or choose to disconnect the ignitor wires. The gas valve is attached to two gas lines. The one that comes from the source tank etc. . Next loosen the nuts to remove the gas lines from the valve. Disconnect the Thermocouple from the end of the gas valve Remove the valve and replace it with the new one. If the thermocouple has failed as well, (as mine did) then you have to replace it as well. Not a very difficult job either. You have to disconnect the thermocouple at the gas valve, and at the rotisserie burner and pull it through and out. Replacing it is a little tedious as you have to thread it back through the same route from or to the valve or burner. You can obtain both the Automatic Gas Valve and the Thermocouple from DCS - but the price is at least 3-to 4 times higher than getting the parts at PEXSupply. see pexsupply.comYou want Robert Shaw parts which are easily found on there website. Hope this helps

This si the second time I have had a problem when I changed tanks. It started working the first time but not this time. The tank valve is open and the pressure guage is in the green, until you tirn on the burner to light it, then the pressure guage goes to red (empty) and the burner lights for about 1/2 second then goes out from lack of gas. It worked fine until I changed to full tanks. As soon as I turn off the burner the pressure guage goes back to full ! Help please

Many newer grills have a safety feature built in where the valve will not allow gas to flow if the burner valve is in ON position when the valve on the tank is opened. Try this - Shut of all valves, disconnect and then re-connect hose to tank, turn on valve above LP tank, THEN turn on burner valve, light w/ spark or match... This feature can be really frustrating if you don't know it is in operation...

I have a new Weber Summit Grill. It is connected to a natural gas line. I believe that I am following the directions but the burner flame won't stay on. In other words, I push in the first big knob on the right (next to the little one at the far end), I push it in, hear the click and wait five seconds to see the burner come on. I don't see the burner flames go on and when I release the knob, the flame goes out and any noise of the gas feed stops. Also after releasing the knob at the spark signal, when I try to turn the knob further to the right, it won't move.It is July 4, I have an expensive, highly recommended grill, but it is not coming on. Thanks.

Hi, I see you've been waiting an hour. Sorry about that. Maybe you have it fixed by now? On a new installation, it may take a while to get gas thru the pipe and out the burner. Do you smell gas when your hold the knob in? If not, hold it in until you smell gas or the burner lights. It may take a couple of minutes.
