Guide :Grilling : Genesis Silver B Grill

Burner issues The following was a message that I received today from our property management maint. dept. regarding our Weber Silver B grill. The grill is used at our 2nd home which we rent out through the summer. The guests staying at your property called to report that they needed gas for the grill. Upon arrival, our maintenance person delivering a new gas bottle but found that the grill actually needed to be replaced. Two of the three burners on the grill were seized up and he was unable to get them going. I have gone ahead and given permission to purchase a similar grill from Wal-mart. This grill is only 1-yr old and we just used it ourselves (approx. 4wks ago) with no problems at all. What does this sound like to you and what new parts would you suggest we replace? How long would it take to replace parts? Sorry I don't have any other info to give you. Thank you, Mark

Need help re: replacing igniter of Gas Grill

If it is like mine, you have to remove the front control panel on the side burner and the front of the side shelf. Remove four screws behind the fronts below the shelf/burner and then you will have access to the screws to remove the main control panel. Be careful with all the hoses and gas piping. If the electronic ignitor is melted like mine(i am on #3), you have more problems than the igniter. I had to replace the burners and the gas valves to stop the flame from "backing up" into this area. Hope this helps.

What is the bottom of the kenmore gas grilled called?????

Hello Dee, Sorry you didn't get exactly what you thought you were getting but you should be able to find the model of the oven section ( top part of grill) and locate a tag of some sort that youcan bring with you to Sears ( they market Kenmore) Service deskand they should be able to track down all the parts you need to complete it ( You'll be looking for the base cabinet that matches the oven ).. They should also be able to provide you with assembly directions too.. Good Luck...

Propane Problems My grill uses propane bottles. It is new and worked fine through the first bottle. After I replaced the initial bottle, gas was slow coming out and would not get hot. Then I had no flame. Second bottle was definitely not empty. Bought another bottle (third) thinking I need a spare anyway. This bottle worked the first time. Now, it too is not getting enough gas. My suspicion is that I may have slightly damaged (stripped) ventilator gasket. What do you suggest?

The salesman at ACE Hardware told me I needed a grill tip cleaner. Seems the outflow valve from the tank can get crusted and there is a device called a gril tip cleaner that can help restore the gas flow to a higher level.

It won't put out enough gas to cook. Can only use one burner at a time because it will not put out enough gas volume or pressure to burn more than one. And that one has to be on high in order to get enough flame to cook as if it were on low. I've changed the regulator, the gas bottle( several times) and blew air through the lines to be sure the lines and the burners were not obstructed. What would be your next suggestion. Because for what I paid for this unit and the very few times I have been able to use it without cussing and trying to figure out why it can't do something as simple as blow gas through a line, I think someone should be replacing it with something else comparable. That would my suggestion. Because I love to grill out and feel sick everytime I look at $700.00 worth of new junk sitting there unusable.

Many newer grills have a safety feature built in where the valve will not allow gas to flow if the burner valve is in ON position when the valve on the tank is opened. Try this - Shut of all valves, disconnect and then re-connect hose to tank, turn on valve above LP tank, THEN turn on burner valve, light w/ spark or match... This feature can be really frustrating if you don't know it is in operation...

Converting Thermos Stainless Grill to natural gas

You have to install a conversion kit for it to work the way you want. The reason is because the orifice in either the valves or the main "jet" that feeds the burner tube has to be changed. Natural gas is really not as efficient as lp gas (propane) because it takes more natural gas to create the same btu output as propane. In short, your grill will not work if you do not do the conversion. I am including a link that lists the conversion kit for your grill, you can order it there and you can download the assembly manual as well. Here is the link: http://www.charbroil.com/Consumer/product_detail_e.aspx?ProductID=1723&CategoryID=25
