Flare behind temperature knobs on jenn-air gas grill

This seems to be a problem for most Jenn-Air users. The burners are defective, rusted or clogged and allowing the flame to "back up." You most likely have a melted electronic ignitor as well as gas valve damage. The new burners that I received this week for my model 720-0061-LP are 1/2 inch shorter than previous versions. Time will tell if this fixed the problem. I would call Nexgrill and get all new burners and inspect the gas valve area for damage. Since 2004, I am on my 5th set of burners, glad they were free since I have a lifetime warranty on my model.

No these are a one time fail valve because the reason there is a flame is the packing has came out of the valve. Most of these valves may be purchased from either westlake hardware, home depot, or wal-mart.

I have a new Weber Summit Grill. It is connected to a natural gas line. I believe that I am following the directions but the burner flame won't stay on. In other words, I push in the first big knob on the right (next to the little one at the far end), I push it in, hear the click and wait five seconds to see the burner come on. I don't see the burner flames go on and when I release the knob, the flame goes out and any noise of the gas feed stops. Also after releasing the knob at the spark signal, when I try to turn the knob further to the right, it won't move.It is July 4, I have an expensive, highly recommended grill, but it is not coming on. Thanks.

Hi, I see you've been waiting an hour. Sorry about that. Maybe you have it fixed by now? On a new installation, it may take a while to get gas thru the pipe and out the burner. Do you smell gas when your hold the knob in? If not, hold it in until you smell gas or the burner lights. It may take a couple of minutes.

Model 141.163211 Kenmore BBQ Grill. Burner tube ignites then after a few seconds flames ignite behind control panel - melted knobs. A year ago same problem. Removed all parts and cleaned, installed new requlator & hose - This fixed it. This time I removed and cleaned all parts again but did not replace requlator - No fix.

It sounds like sealant may need to be used on connections. Use appropriate one for gas fittings. Noting where the leak is occuring is important. Another possibility is the fuel is being somehow "jetted" from a hole or orifice in a burner tube to the area behind the control panel. These are hard to see what happens first when it does happen.

If this is an LP grill...... you could try replacing the regulator.
