Lighting Problem/2 year-Old Ducane Grill

Only the right burner of 3 mains works properly. The mid-main starts to ignite, but only flames out of the top of the grill. Sometimes (by blowing on it) the burner ignites. The left main doen't get gas. I ran a pin into the jets to clear them out. Did not dismantle the hoses etc. Thanks! John

I have a stainless steel Ducane BBQ with five burners plus side burner and a rottisserie burner , which does not work. It is approx 5 years old and I have never used the rottisserie till last week. I have tried to light it up , but there is no spark , and I do not hear a click on the rottisserie knob, please help.

Since you've never used it. It may simply be a case that the infrared rotisserie burner is dirty and clogged with grease from cooking on the main burners. In addition, the Thermocouple and the igniter for that burner may also have a grease build up. In which case it won't allow the burner to light. The electronic igniter that lights the main burners, also ignites the the rotisserie burner. Are you geting the click noise on the main burner igniters? If not, the battery in the igniter button needs to be replaced. Be sure to take note of the way the old battery is facing, when you unscrew the igniter cap. Because, that's the way the new battery should face. Also, try match lighting the rotisserie burner. To do this, turn the Rotisserie Burner's Control Knob to the ON position and push it in, as you touch the lit match to the burner. If the burner lights continue to hold the burner knob in for a couple of minutes. This allows the Thermocouple and the ceramic plaques to heat up completely. Then slowly release the burner knob and the burner should remain lit.If it doesn't stay lit, clean the burner and the Thermocouple ,in the manner that is described in your Owner's Manual.Hope this helps you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know and Happy Grilling!!

Lighting Problem/2 year-Old Ducane Grill

Do you have enough gas pressure coming out of the regulator and gas valve? You'll need a pressure guage for this. If yes, try taking out the burners and cleaning them with a wire brush, especially the flame spreading sections.

I have a stainless steel Kenmore propane grill, model 119.16311800. It has four burners and a side burner on the left. It is two years old and has performed perfectly for two years. I am now having trouble with the flame. It will light and if I only have one burner on it will give a good flame. Lighting additional burners will reduce the flame size, when all four main burners are on they struggle to stay lit. We recently moved, and the grill was out of gas for an extended period. The problem first presented after a relative gave me a gas tank. Initial inspection showed some debris in the valve of the tank itself. I tried removing the debris from the tank with partial success. I connected it to the grill and had the same issue. Got a new tank. Fired up and cooked up some great burgers. thought I was all set until the next time when the new tank also produced the same results. I have not been able to disassemble the burners to check/clean the venturi tubes. (ever) It appears that there is a screw at the rear of the burners that will release it, but they are badly corroded and will not come out by standard means. If you could confirm this is indeed the proper way to remove the bruners I will drill them out and devise a better way to fasten them afterwards. Also, I did read here about opening the gas tank valve very slowly. I disconnected the regulator, waited a few minutes, reconnected and opened very slowly. Light the furtherst burner first and proceeded to find the problem still existed. I understand that the regulator may also be faulty. Given that there is no gauranteed life cycle for any product, can you estimate a typical life span for a regulator? How would I go about checking the regulator? I fear that when I tried to remove the gunk in that old tank some loose particals may have gotten into the regulator and damaged it. Thank you very much for any assistance you can give!

With all the you described, your best bet is to replace the grill hose/regulator assembly. It's not expensive and it's not difficult to do. You can find the hose/regulator assembly at any home center or hardware store that sells gas grills. The assembly is universal, but take your old one with you for comparison purposes. As far as replacing the burners are concerned, that's not difficult either. And you may be able to find the replacement burners at www.sureheat.com , as they made the Kenmore grills for Sears. And yes, the scenario you gave for removing the burners is correct.Hope this helped you and you will be kind enough to give my response to you, a positive rating.Happy Grilling!

None of my igniters on my 30400043 Ducane grill will light the burners. I've had a grease fire due to the burners rusting out and replaced the burners. The insulation on the wires to the igniters has burned off. Do I need to buy a whole new manifold or is there replacements for the igniters? Do the clickers go bad? I'm very disappointed. I bought this grill 3 years ago thinking it's the last I'd have to buy and here I am replacing parts 3 years later. I also don't think the infra red elements are getting hot enough. When running they can be blown out. I don't use them often and have run it for 45 min or so and got a steady flame. I'll try the rotisserie tomorrow. It'd be a shame to waste a good piece of meat. Anyone else having these problems? Got solutions?

As I tell customers, when they ask me, "How long will this grill last?" "That depends on well you take care of it with routine maintenance and cleaning."The wiring for the electronic ignition and the spark ignitors are replaceable. The ignitor button or the "clicker" as you called is replaceable. But all you may to do, is change the battery inside the igniter button. To help you further, i have included a link to the Owner's Manual for your grill. It will have an exploded view of the parts, which should help you identify them by part number and order them from Ducane, if you like.http://help.weber.com/manuals/ducane/2008%20Manuals%20pdf/20529916_030308.pdfA far as the infrared burners are concerned, they blow out easily if the wind is just blowing slightly. That's why they have a thermocouple on the burner, to turn the gas off to it, when it gets blown out. When preheating an infrared burner, the hood/lid of the grill should be closed.I hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

We have the Summit 675 NG built in grill that is several years old. The igniters and crossover tubes have totally eroded. Can we just manually light the grill with no additional problems or do these need to be replaced?

Yes, you probably could for a while. But, the rust and corrosion is going to spread to the other burners eventually. So, it would be better to replace, what's needed. The parts are available directly from Weberhttp://store.weber.com/parts/gas/ Or from Appliance Factory Partshttp://www.appliancefactoryparts.com/The parts you need are not expensive and are fairly easy to install.Hope this helped you. Please let me know and Happy Grilling!!

I have a 2 year old Jenn Air gas grill that I purchased from Lowes (Stainless Steel, 3 burner with additional side burner/searer). Worked fine until recently. Grill will light, however all three burners are buning very very low (especially when more than one are turned on). Tried 2 brand new tanks -same problem!

If it's the same one I have, you have to cook with the gas tank draw pulled out. When it's closed the hose kinks and restricts gas flow.

Low flame propane flow is so small that the first burner goes out when lighting a second--3 year old grill

Either ;1 your valve is not opening on your tank,2 your regulator is bad on your tank, or 3 your out of gas.Unless your second burner is going fine then you have :4 a bad burner valve control not opening or 5 Some cobwebs inside the burner blocking the gas flow.If this helps you please rate me with as high a mark as you can. Thanks for using Fix ya and Good Luck
