One side won't light.

Prior to attching the hose from the regulator to the tank, I turned on all five burners, opened the gas to the tank, allowed the gas to run a few minutes to equalize, be careful when turning on as the gas has built up. I have had no problems since. I belive part of the problem is that my grill has an automatic ignitor, that can be problematic after changing to a new tank. Thats why I had the burners on (open) prior to attaching the new tank prior then opening the valve on the tank so it doesn't ignite.

Landmann bbq wirh side burner. Not sure how to connect the side burner onto the gas supply. The instructions seem to say just slide it on but that wont be gas tight????

It does just slide on to it. If you look at the regular burners they do the same thing.

Gas Grill Burners with yellow flames coming from beneath them

The flames should be blue and the burners clean. check gas pressure and the air mixture dampers. touch air will give you the same effect. if the burners are clean, it is the mixture. as far as the slots in the bottom. i have not seen that. but i work on commercial ranges.

Hi, I have a year old 12395 BBQ. Last week when using it for the first time I noticed a flame creeping down the rubber pipe, it appeared to be leaking gas from the side grill brass valve. I turned the gas off straight away and no damage was done. I checked all the gas unions/nuts and they all appeared to be tight. Also the gas 'popped back' as though it was burning in the venturi as well as the 'H' grill. Is there any suggestion you might offer as to why this has happened? Thanks. Kevin 01225 310 682 if required.

Kevin, While I can't offer a suggestion regarding the cause of the problem, I'd like to stress to danger of a defective gas unit. A small LPG tank can explode with enough force to blow a hole through a wall. I'd suggest having it examined by someone qualified to service gas fittings.

As I typed previous gas is coming out of all the ports on the burners on the gril. They are not clogged. but gas does not travel around burner and get to one side. The holes have been cleaned. the BBQ is 3 years old. Fire Magic

When you removed the burners to clean them, did you also check and clean the venturi valves and the burner valve(s) orifice(s). If not, this may be the problem, as the burner(s) are not getting all the gas and the proper air to gas ratio, that they need for complete combustion.R H Peterson the manufacturer of Fire Magic Grills has been around for years and makes one of the best high end grills on the market. Their Technical Service Department is top notch, so if all else fails contact them at 800-332-3973 or the Fire Magic Dealer you purchased the grill from.

I have a stainless steel Kenmore propane grill, model 119.16311800. It has four burners and a side burner on the left. It is two years old and has performed perfectly for two years. I am now having trouble with the flame. It will light and if I only have one burner on it will give a good flame. Lighting additional burners will reduce the flame size, when all four main burners are on they struggle to stay lit. We recently moved, and the grill was out of gas for an extended period. The problem first presented after a relative gave me a gas tank. Initial inspection showed some debris in the valve of the tank itself. I tried removing the debris from the tank with partial success. I connected it to the grill and had the same issue. Got a new tank. Fired up and cooked up some great burgers. thought I was all set until the next time when the new tank also produced the same results. I have not been able to disassemble the burners to check/clean the venturi tubes. (ever) It appears that there is a screw at the rear of the burners that will release it, but they are badly corroded and will not come out by standard means. If you could confirm this is indeed the proper way to remove the bruners I will drill them out and devise a better way to fasten them afterwards. Also, I did read here about opening the gas tank valve very slowly. I disconnected the regulator, waited a few minutes, reconnected and opened very slowly. Light the furtherst burner first and proceeded to find the problem still existed. I understand that the regulator may also be faulty. Given that there is no gauranteed life cycle for any product, can you estimate a typical life span for a regulator? How would I go about checking the regulator? I fear that when I tried to remove the gunk in that old tank some loose particals may have gotten into the regulator and damaged it. Thank you very much for any assistance you can give!

With all the you described, your best bet is to replace the grill hose/regulator assembly. It's not expensive and it's not difficult to do. You can find the hose/regulator assembly at any home center or hardware store that sells gas grills. The assembly is universal, but take your old one with you for comparison purposes. As far as replacing the burners are concerned, that's not difficult either. And you may be able to find the replacement burners at www.sureheat.com , as they made the Kenmore grills for Sears. And yes, the scenario you gave for removing the burners is correct.Hope this helped you and you will be kind enough to give my response to you, a positive rating.Happy Grilling!

5burner propane gas island bbq with side burner and, kaggerator.the problem is when I start the bbq my flame goes out or,is very low.I've replaced the regulator and cleaned everything.does regulator size matter?

If the hoses from the grill fit the regulator it’s the correct size. Based on what actions you taken already, listed actions to continue to trouble shoot the problem. 1) Check for a leak with soapy water, a leak in the gas supply could cause the OPD safety device to trigger. 2) Re-set the regulator, turn off the gas at the tank, disconnect the hose from the tank, open the lid on the grill, open the burner valves to high for several minutes, turn the burner valves to the off position, re-connect the tank, slowly open the valve until fully opened, try relighting burners. 3) It may be a bad tank, either mechanically at the valve or the propane may be bad Install another tank to confirm. I feel quite sure it’s either a pressure problem or bad propane. I’m assuming your tank has propane in it and isn’t empty.
