Gas burners serve as the primary source of heat in a variety of home appliances: water heaters, gas dryers, and gas cooktops and ovens, and-of course-- furnaces and boilers. When the burner fails, most gas appliances are designed to stop working altogether to prevent a gas leak. As a rule, it's best to have gas burner problems fixed by your gas utility service person or a qualified heating technician, but there are a few steps you can take to avoid paying for a service call.

All works fine except infra red burner will not light either with electric igniter or match Should orofice be changed at inlet to infra red burner? I have check all the way from gas line to inlet orofice - no obstructions.

Http:// The IR Burner has it's OWN ignition system, If there is any problem, the burner will NOT ALLOW, itself to be lit. You must have a sensor that is stopping it from getting the gas? You need to check, your igniter wire and also, the safety cut out.

I installed a new 7509 ignitor on my 13 year old weber genesis gas grill and the gas does not ignite when pushing the ignitor button. I installed the ignitor with the box opening on the bottom and checked with a mirror and there is spark when the ignitor button is pushed. The burner lights with a match and the gas tank is full and turned on. Only thing I can think of is maybe the ignitor box opening needs to be turned toward the burner but I don't want to mess with it till I know for sure that is the problem. Any help much appreciated

If the spark you see is in the ignitor box and not at the burner(s), then there's a wire loose somewhere or the ignitor is not grounded properly. Also check to see if the ignitor tips in the grill next to burner(s) are covered with grease. If so, clean them with a cotton ball dipped in alcohol. Check each ignitor wire at each ignitor , make sure they are secure,

Burner doesn't turn off

If the burner stays on and will not go off, the gas valve or furnace limit switch is defective. Immediately turn off the gas to the furnace by turning the inlet valve so that it is perpendicular to the gas pipe. Call your utility company or a furnace repair technician.

Two things....I changed the tanks out last night and I can't get the burners to light. Full tank of gas as I checked it. Took the burner covers off and cleaned the burner pipes itself and still nothing? Secondly, the igniter won't work and I changed the battery out. Old battery looked a little corrosive. Suggerstions?

Replace the regulator to get your burners to work you can get that at Home Depot, call Weber to get the other part, if your grill is under warranty you may get it Free!

Pilot goes out

If the pilot won't stay lit, the thermocouple may be loose or faulty, the pilot orifice may be clogged, or the pilot light's flame may be set too low and needs to be adjusted. You can clear a clogged orifice with a piece of thin wire, such as a bread tie with the paper stripped off of it. Be sure to turn off the gas to the furnace first! Also shut off the switch or circuit breaker that controls power to the furnace. Just poke the thin wire into the tiny orifice where the pilot flame normally burns to knock off any ash or debris. Some pilots have a flame adjustment screw for adjusting the flame. To adjust this, refer to your owner's manual. Normally, this is simply a matter of turning the flame adjustment screw to achieve a full, steady 1 1/2-inch to 2-inch flame that doesn't have any yellow in it.
