We've had our roadtrip lxe for 3 yrs. We live in Tucson Az. and it works fine here. When we go to the mts. in northern Az. it has failed us every time (9 times). It will light and run for about 15 minutes just long enough to start cooking and then it goes out. Try to relight it and it will come on very low for about a minute and go out again. We check for leaks, obstructions etc. and find nothing. Retighten everything and try again to no avail. We have spent hours diagnosing but nothing works. We get back to Tucson and (you guessed it) it works fine, no problems. Bought a new grill (different brand) but we love the roadtrip. It still looks brandnew and we have invested a lot in every accessory. PLEASE HELP Gary & Millie ps.. Tanks are new, purged and full.

Gary & Millie, the mountains you're visiting, must be over 2000 feet above sea level and that's what's affecting your gas grill. The lower oxygen level and lower air pressure affects propane fueled grills. On larger gas appliances, the gas pressure can be adjusted to overcome this problem. But, I don't believe you can do that on a portable gas grill. My best suggestion is to contact Coleman Customer Support at 800-835-3278, to find out if they have another regulator that can be used in high altitude applications.Good luck and Happy Grilling!!

Several times now my gas burners simply will BARELY work at all. I have recently cleaned everything and have two tanks full of new LP - I tried both of them - NO GO. I took a wrench and tapped HARD on the regulator - no go. We cooked our steaks inside, 3 hours later I went outside to put away the grill and I tried to start it - IT WORKED - WHAT IS UP? Do I need to replace the regulator? Is so, can I cut into and splice the gas lines or do I need to replace the entire harness? I have a 4 burner gill+rotissarie burner+side burner. {By the way - the side burner did light this evening when the 4 burners had maybe 1-3% of their power - what's up with this?

Hi, Your problem could be or probably is with the regulator...not enough gas pressure...Propane, LP, or Natural Gas Regulator Problems heatman101

My kenmore elite grill has a ceramic cooking grid. it is 1 yr old.recently a problem developed. the ceramic grid lights as usual, but does not stay lit.once i let go of the knob the burner goes out. thanks in advance

Check thermo coupling., its purpose is to keep heat at flame area-helps keep flame lit, like a pilot light... clean it with a finger nail file LIGHTLY- or use sand paper LIGHTLY, just to clean surface..

I have a kenmore gas grill that has the side burner. Up until recently, it has been working great. However, now the main grill won't light when pressing the ignition button but the side burner lights instead (something we rarely use!!). We can manually light the grill but it is only 1 1/2 years old - help! Thank you! DMac

More than likely, the electrode spark ignitors on your main burners need to be cleaned. They will get covered with grease over time. Also check the wiring from the ignitor module to each spark ignitor being sure that all wiring is firmly in place. To clean the electrode(s) ... a cotton ball dipped in alcohol will work fine.Hope this helped you solve the problem and Happy Grilling!

Cannot get 1 side of the gas grill to ignite.

You may need to remove the gas tank from the cooker and open all valves and close them back tightly. Then reconnect the tank and turn the valve on SLOWLY just a hair. The new tanks have a safety device inside that shuts down the flow if the pressure goes out too fast. More here

My Coleman roadtrip cooks way too hot. Is there a way to turn down the flow. We are burnig on low.

If you're cooking at the lowest setting and the flames are to high, you will need to replace the gas control valve for the burners. Coleman still stocks some parts for your model. Appliance Factory Parts carries a wider selection of parts. hope this helps. Happy Grilling!!

Cleaning the grates?

Grill is easy to lift, i usually soak grill like that and then whipe off, that is usually sufficient. if you have some really bdly ingrained bits, then spray it with oven cleaner, leave for few second and then whipe off, then wash as normal. if this is coated (teflon) grill, then do not use this method! soaking only!hope this will help, if you find advice useful, please leave your comment and vote for me, thanx!
